VOID Part 5.5
I woke up feeling really tired. I know I'm going to have to leave today.. yesterday
night I had a weird outburst about not wanting to leave Willow. I tried to shove that
away and focus on the goal of this. Getting back home. I probably won't see her
again, so why think about her?
I walked downstairs and saw Willow waiting for me. She had dark green backpack in
her hands, it looked like it was packed full. She glanced up at me and smiled.
"Thought I'd give you something before you leave." Willow said, she sounded very
soft but with a hint of solemness. She handed me the bag. "To remember me..
maybe?"
I took it and tried to smile back, despite being nervous. I opened the bag to nd an
assortment of things; bandages, a box of matches, food, water, and a book. It was
the same book I was reading earlier. "Escape". Oddly, there was also a stick. It
looked very pointy, like it could stab someone. I guess for self defense? I wore the
bag on my back, I kinda looked like a little kid on his rst day of school which felt
embarrassing. I'm glad Willow gave it to me though, she really cares I guess.
"So... you ready?" Willow asked. I nodded, and she lead me back down the hallway
by the glowing door. She offered me the key. "Would you like the honor?"
Of course I took it. The key was very dusty.. I don't think it'd been used in quite a
while. After brushing off the dust, I put it in the lock and slowly twisted it. I very
cautiously opened the door, and got hit with a large beam of white light. After
adjusting to it, I faced Willow. She admitted something to me that lightened my
nerves a bit. "I'll be honest... I'm gonna miss you. Being here alone is hard... but
you have to go. Don't think of me. You can do this! You have... power."
I took a deep breath, and walked through the door.
Part 5.5: Twinsies
The last thing I heard from Willow was "Good luck! I'm counting on you!"
It was hard to see at rst but after adjusting, I realized I was in a tunnel. I walked
forward for about 5 minutes, until I reached the end of it. There was an exit to the
tunnel, leading to what looked like another pathway with a forest on both sides. It
was... kinda calming. Just.. trees, bushes, and quiet. I took a minute to just admire
the surroundings. It was really pretty despite it all being black and white.
I started to walk along the path-
Then I heard a noise. There was some rustling in the bushes. I stopped in place, and
stared at the bushes. What the heck...
I decided to make a dumb move and approach the bush. I moved as slow as possible,
as my heart beat a hundred miles an hour. On some sort of STUPID instinct, I stuck
my hand in the bush. I hit something hard, and then heard a voice screech
"OWWWW! WHAT-". I jumped back in fear and watched as two.. creatures came out
of the bush. Neither of them looked human- but they both looked very similar. One
was tall, the other very short. The tall one had white (literally bright white) skin,
black eyes, wore a white sweater and sweatpants. It was holding a black crown in it's
hands. It also had a heart shaped tail, with a Yin-Yang sort of design on it. The tall
one seemed angry, I'm guessing it was the one I punched on accident.
The shorter one looked a bit more simple, it's head was half black half white (once
again in a Yin-Yang sort of look.) One of it's eyes was white, the other was black. The
short one also had white a t-shirt on with 2 thick black stripes along the torso. It
wore black pants and black shoes. Very basic... and it looked kinda nervous. Like it
didn't wanna be there. Right away, the tall one started yelling at me. "WHY'D YOU
HIT ME MAN I DIDN'T DO ANYTHIN!" I panicked and started to apologize. "I didn't
mean to!! What else am I supposed to do when two.. things start making noise in a
bush???" The shorter one seemed more polite, and it explained things. "Sorry- they
get mad easily- And.. we're not things... we're a species called Karmae. My name is
Yang, the angry one is my sibling named Yin. Very original.. I know.” I was still a bit
confused. "What the heck is a Kar- Khar... Karm- whatever you're called- and why
were you two in a bush-??"
Yang corrected me. "Pronounced car-may. And we were in the bush because Yin lost
their crown and we were looking for it. Now about Karmae... Karmae are very
similar to humans, we just look different. All Karmae look similar. Basically
redesigned humans, nothin special. All Karmae serve as King Shani's soilders...
except somebody isn't listening and doesn't wanna do their job, and is dragging me
along!" Yang seemed to be directing that last part at Yin, who wasn't really paying
much attention. Yin rolled their eyes and responded "But protecting King Shani is so
boring! Besides, it's not like he's gonna get attacked and 2 people not being there
will kill him!!" Yang rolled his eyes.
"King... Shani?" I questioned. "Isn't Shani the name of like, the god of Karma??"
Yin answered this time. "Well yeah, he's just named after the god. If he really was a
god he wouldn't need protection. I guess the dude's name explains why we're called
Karmae. Anyways.. enough about us. WHO ARE YOU?" Yin pointed a nger at me. "I
wanna know who punched me in the face."
I responded a bit nervously, I had a feeling Yin would do something if I didn't tell
him. "Im Sage. Human if you couldn't tell.. I'm trying to get back home. Except I
don't really know how..." Yin's face was beaming. "YOU'RE TRYING TO LEAVE???"
Yin got on their knees and started begging to come along. "PLEEEEEASE BRING ME
WITH YOU THIS PLACE SUCKS! I WANNA SEE EARTH! I KNOW THIS PLACE REALLY WELL
I CAN HEL-"
Yang cut Yin off before they could ramble on further.
"Lemme rephrase for you. You want to leave? We can help if you want. We've been
here for as long as we can remember and we know how to exit. Yin has tried
multiple times, sadly king Shani has rejected them every time... but you're a human!
