Poetry challenge Day 3: balladno rhyme scheme, no limit•tells a story•As a young girl, she knew far too muchAs she got older, she knew far too little. And that came back to bite herBecause her heart was quite brittle. She met him at the wayward dockOn a hot day in mid June.He seemed wise, and not too oldBut the love started too soon.It was fun until it wasn’t.He knew it was dangerous, playing that gameShe didn’t notice, how bad it had gottenUntil she had been far too changedTo stop right then would not have workedFor she was in a tranceHe knew it was selfish, what he was doingBut he let her continue her danceAfter three years, their entire townKnew about them, knew their whole storyThe girl had nothing to lose from the rumorsBut the man lost all of his so-called gloryAfter a while, the man grew desperateFor a way out when she wouldn’t comply“It seems she slipped down the stairs”The doc said, “An accident, that’s no lie”The man thought he was fine, hèll, nobody knew! But he wasn’t, and he couldn’t sleepHe remembered the promise he made her one dayAnd took his own life, falling in a heap After a month, when things settled down,It dawned on the townspeople the truthFor he was older, wiser, more civilizedAnd she had been just out of youthTheir known in their town for their story, Im sureHow could they not with such gossip? But in the end, both of them died for their “love”By making bad choices, they both lost it
